Greening Games with a Multiplier Event at VPGathering at Breda University of Applied Sciences in April 2024

On the 4th April 2024, the Greening Games project was presented to the VP Gathering conference in Breda, The Netherlands.

The conference attracted c.100 attendees from around the world to meet and discuss the latest advances in Virtual Production (VP) filming techniques.

VP typically uses the popular video game development software ‘Unreal Engine’ to power 3D graphics on a large screen behind actors and scenery, creating a powerful illusion of the actors being in virtual space. Studies are ongoing, but the savings in carbon costs for travel and equipment transportation are a significant contributor to this technology being an improvement on existing production methodologies.

The Greening Games project’s work on sustainability was presented alongside the complementary suite of two other Erasmus+ research projects: VPSN and PANEURAMA. The audience was highly receptive to the messages and promoted strong engagement from visitors afterwards.

The Greening Games project was also presented on a stand at the event, with a physical promotional pamphlet and QR code links to the website for further information.
